The name's Sam, Sam Smith! The British singer has confirmed that he has written and recorded the new James Bond theme the for the forthcoming movie Spectre, and calls the process a "highlight of my career."

The Grammy winning singer made the revelation via Twitter in the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 8, declaring, "I am honored to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song."
Despite denying on British radio last week that he was involved with the project, Smith went on to reveal that the song, “Writing's on the Wall,” has been co-written by his long-time collaborator Jimmy Napes.

"I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations," Smith added in his Twitter announcement. "I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it."
Smith sparked rumors that he would be involved with the movie when he shared an image of a ring via Instagram on Monday, Sept. 7, which was marked with the Spetre logo.

Smith becomes the first British male solo singer to record the Bond theme since 1965 when Tom Jones recorded “Thunderball.”
